How to Search the OPAL Catalog for Books of the Bible, Commentaries, and Biblical Criticisms
The OPAL library catalog contains a wealth of material in the area of biblical studies. To locate this material, it is important to use the correct form of entry for the biblical books. Use the following examples as a guide for locating scriptural material.
To locate material about a paricular book of the Bible, search by SUBJECT using the following form:
- Bible O.T. Genesis (example for Old Testament books)
- Bible N.T. John (example for New Testament books)

The above search will result in an alphabetical list of the subject headings dealing with the Gospel of John and you are able to browse the list for the specific subjects of interest. The beginning of the list is shown below.

To locate biblical commentaries, search by SUBJECT using the following form:
- Bible O.T. Genesis Commentaries
- Bible N.T. John Commentaries
To locate biblical criticisms, search by SUBJECT using the following form:
- Bible O.T. Job Criticism interpretation
- Bible N.T. Corinthians, 1st Criticism interpretation
